Vincent Garnier joins ZTE Global Summit 2026 in Kuala Lumpur

Vincent Garnier, Director General of Fibre Council Europe, participated in the ZTE Global Summit & User Congress 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, contributing to the panel discussion “Winning the Race Beyond Connectivity”. The panel formed part of the Summit's wider discussion around moving from connectivity towards digital value.

The session explored where the telecommunications industry can create new value as digital infrastructure continues to evolve, looking beyond traditional connectivity towards areas including fibre, data centres, cloud, edge, compute, security and artificial intelligence.

During the discussion, Vincent stressed that European fibre operators need to embrace the opportunities brought by AI and integrate data centre and data centre interconnection services and infrastructure into their strategies.

This evolution is increasingly important as AI changes both the demands placed on digital infrastructure and the role connectivity providers can play within the wider ecosystem. Fibre and DCI, alongside data centres and distributed computing infrastructure, are becoming increasingly interconnected components of the infrastructure needed to support the AI-driven economy - one of the key questions explored during the panel.

Vincent's participation also reflects Fibre Council Europe's broader engagement with the evolving fibre ecosystem and the new infrastructure, services and business models developing around high-capacity connectivity.
