The Fibre Council Europe is a not-for-profit association registered in Belgium. It is led by nine members of the Executive Board who are elected by the General Assembly. Reporting to the Executive Board, the Management Team runs the operational activities of the Council.
The Fibre Council Europe welcomes any organisation involved in the development, production, deployment, service, maintenance or analysis of Fibre networks or Fibre network components moving to full fibre ecosystem; fixed connectivity, data centres and digital services. In addition to the traditional category of effective Member (intended for commercial companies) the revised Statutes and Bylaws adopted in January 2023 introduced the new category of associate member (intended for non-profit and individuals). The Fibre Council Europe membership offers a wide range of benefits for fibre industry players.
The General Assembly is made up of representatives from all effective member companies. Each representative has equal voting rights. The General Assembly convenes twice a year and takes the most important decisions concerning the Council, including the election of Board members and the vote of the annual budget.
The Executive Board defines the strategy for the Council and takes operational and financial decisions for the association. The Board comprises 9 members elected for two-year terms at the Spring General Assembly by the principal representatives of effective member companies. Each year, the Board elects a President and a Treasurer. The Executive Board convenes at least four times a year (more frequently in practice). It selects and supervises the activity of the Director General and the management team.
Under the leadership of the Director General, the management team runs the daily activities of the Fibre Council Europe. It is in charge of the organisation of its events, Public Affairs and Communication activities, it coordinates the work of the Committees and supports all members in their relationship with the Council. The management team is mainly located in Brussels, Belgium, and is composed of professionals from various European nationalities.
The Statutes and Bylaws of the Fibre Council Europe are established to regulate its structure and processes. They define precisely the organisational structure of the Council, and are voted by the General Assembly. Among other things, they ensure that each member is treated on equal terms. The Fibre Council Europe has adopted a revised version of its Statutes and Bylaws in January 2023.
